Chilbolton New Inn (now the Abbots Mitre). 1920's.
Andover Advertiser, Â Lookback photo of a postcard of Chilbolton New Inn (now the Abbots Mitre)
The present site of the Abbots Mitre was purchased in 1922 and opened as a public house called the New Inn two years later. The land was originally the site of the post office and blacksmith’s shop. In 1969 the New Inn was renamed the Abbots Mitre, the ecclesiastical link possibly being the ancient Abbey at Wherwell
