William Savage Photographer.
William Savage 1817-1887.
William Savage first traded in Winchester selling fancy wool and needlework goods. He later expanded into souvenir china and glassware and finally by 1861 he added a photography studio to his shop at 97 (now 58) High Street. His first photographs were studio portraits but by 1864 he was taking a wide range of outdoor photographs including topographical views, churches and houses in Winchester and the surrounding countryside.
