Abbots Mitre - Save Our Pub (2013 - 2014)

In 2013, the only pub in Chilbolton was threatened with closure. A vigorous local campaign was successful in getting the Mitre re-opened on 1st October 2014, jointly managed by Steve Bridges and Lee Walker. This event was recorded in the minutes of Chilbolton Parish Council, chaired by David Griffiths

CPC met at 7 pm on Wednesday October 1st at the Village Hall. There were no members of the public present. The meeting was one of the shortest I have chaired. Maybe the re-opening of the Abbot’s Mitre and the prospect of a free beer helped to focus minds! Seriously, it was a great pleasure to call in at the pub on my way home and to see it crammed with locals chatting away. The beer I drank was called Old Muddler. My wife thinks that’s a fair description of me! Despite the name it was excellent.
