Editorial by Carole Marits (December 2009 and January 2010)

As we approach the shortest days of the year, this is often a time of reflection. And looking back through the magazines this year it’s been a very busy year in our villages, with many highlights to reflect upon. We, as your magazine committee would like to take the opportunity to thank all of our volunteers, those who submit copy for the magazine, those who collect and edit the information and pull the magazine together, the printers, the great team of collators and finally the distributers. Without all of you this magazine would not be possible. To the communities in both villages, we wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Editorial by Terry Gilmour (November 2009)

As the clocks go back so autumn arrives with its rich colours decorating the trees in our villages. With it comes dark evenings and for a short while, lighter mornings. Soon the mornings catch the evenings up and with the inevitable change in the weather it becomes very tempting to remain in the comfort of our homes and only venture out when we need to.
However, as can been seen from this month’s issue, there is plenty going on locally. Whether it be a Christmas Fair, a film show or learning a new board game, that tempts you out, there’s no excuse for staying at home waiting for spring. But when you do stay indoors then why not warm yourself up with Jane’s spicy tomato, pumpkin and lentil soup. If you’re feeling energetic then you might like to help with the churchyard clear up or watch others with more energy in the Chilbolton football team.

Editorial by Victoria Ramsay (October 2009)

One of the final jobs that falls to the magazine team is to write a few words of introduction. Being original is always a tough call at the end of a hectic production process. This month, however, the magazine speaks for itself so there’s no need to try! This bumper issue not only features our regulars and all the news about what’s happening in the villages, but there are several fascinating articles that will undoubtedly capture your interest. Thank you to those who have turned journalist this month – as the magazine doesn’t employ roving reporters we rely on your contributions to add variety and make the magazine a ‘good read’. Someone whose contribution must be singled out is Marion Gilmour. After many years of unstinting involvement on the magazine committee and production teams, Marion is standing down to attend to her many other commitments. She will however, still be compiling the What’s On section that she started when the magazine had a revamp. Thank you, Marion, for being such a great member of the team, for all your hard work, for your inspirational perseverance with new technology, and, of course, your wonderful cookies!

The magazine for January is published with the preceding December, as a double issue.
