The Common
Chilbolton Common, forty-eight acres of water meadow in the flood plain of the Test, is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (S.S.S.I.) and an Environmentally Sensitive Area (E.S.A.)
The Grindstone
To commemorate King George V's Coronation in 1911, the publican of the New Inn on the Common presented the grindstone to the people of the village. It was mounted in an oak frame and stood under the elm tree outside the (old) Village Hall until 1937. It now stands next to the telephone kiosk on Abbots Green.
The Old School
A Grade II listed flint building erected in 1843, this was Chilbolton's first purpose built school. It was closed in 1931 and the children transferred to the County Primary School at Wherwell. The Men's Club moved from the old Village Hall (Chilbolton Club House) to the empty school building.
The Village Shop
Chilbolton Post Office and Stores on Village Street, originally a 17th century dwelling called Rose Cottage.
Train
Sophie's train represents the Sprat and Winkle line. The old railway linked Romsey and Andover. It closed in 1964 and re-opened twenty years later as part of the Test way Walk.
Victorian Privy
The ornamental one-seat privy has a tiled roof and Victorian filial crown and has been restored to its former glory. It is positioned over the river (natural drainage!) in the grounds of the Coach House which are occasionally opened to the public as part of the "National Gardens" scheme.
Waterwheel
The 19th century waterwheel is situated in the grounds of Testcombe but can only be seen from the riverside gardens of the Coach House.
West Down
Owned and managed by Hampshire County Council Countryside and Community Department, West Down is a haven of wild plants and birds, butterflies and rare moths. It is a Designated Open Space and Picnic Site.
