Bonfire parties were held on the playing field for many years and they became an annual event in the village calendar. They were organised and run by the Playing Field Committee for over ten years. The last village Bonfire was held in 1997, as new legislation on firework safety and the training of personnel associated with organised Bonfires made the event unworkable.
