Rabbits
Mike Gee
Large numbers of rabbits inhabit the Common, the fields and the Downs. In the early evening the walker may see scores of rabbits running across the fields and meadows, only to find they have scuttled into their burrows as they draw near. Rabbits are endearing creatures, causing problems only when they burrow under the Memorial Playing Field – rabbit holes littering the football pitch are a hazard to the footballer!
