Fireplace design, one of 12 from the carved wooden fireplace in the old village hall (left-hand panel)
Mike Gee
Before the old Village Hall on Village Street was demolished, the Management Committee removed the carved wooden fireplace installed as a memorial to Major William Greer Turle (1839-1909), one-time Chairman of the Village Hall. The fireplace was made up of beautifully carved panels of various designs. The panels were separated and restored and are displayed as decorative and commemorative features in the new Village Hall.
