The Cockatrice

The Cockatrice (left-hand panel)
Mike Gee

Long ago, a mythical beast known as the Cockatrice terrorised the village of Wherwell! A creature of myths and legends, the cockatrice was incorporated in the heraldic insignia of Wherwell Priory and later adopted as the emblem of Wherwell County Primary School. Embroidered in the school colours of red and blue, the cockatrice in the square represents past and present pupils of the school from Chilbolton.
